  1. LETTERS/NOTES

  1. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS

Alice Gillis – Ms. Gillis thanked Tracy and her team and Mr. Conley and his team and stated the CCMA program sounds like a tremendous thing.  She stated this sounds like a great opportunity for kids and when she was teaching, there were a lot of students who had the aspirations to get into healthcare and that’s a good thing.  She thanked Mr. Harris and Ms. Grim for stepping up into the head coaching positions.  She welcomed Mr. Shull.  She commended Mr. Conley for being a Principal and having the time to search and look into the CCMA program.  She stated it’s hard enough keeping a school running and she appreciates it.  She appreciates Mr. Blakely being onboard and stated she rests easier knowing he’s here.

Valerie Alexander – Ms. Alexander stated she enjoyed hearing about the new program.  She’s happy to hear Mr. Conley’s passion for helping the kids. She commented she thinks it is a stumbling block with kids about whether or not to go to college first and if they will have a career if they do or don’t and thanked him for all his hard work.  She thanked all new hires and wished good luck to the coaches.  She looks forward to hearing more about their season and how it goes.

Lance Engle – Mr. Engle is thankful for the opportunities our kids have at DelCom.  He stated he took his son on his first college visit and the leg up he has with going to college, doing what he needs to do, the opportunities that are there for him, and how much further ahead he is before he even gets there all because he goes to Delta High School.  He stated we are very blessed here at Delta High School to have those opportunities and principals like Mr. Conley, the staff,  counselors, and all the people doing work for these kids to make sure they can succeed.  He stated it’s a blessing and thanked Mr. Conley.  He congratulated the football team on a wonderful season.  He looks forward to winter sports.

John Adams – Mr. Adams stated he’s sat here a long time and it’s been said in this room by someone we all know well that you can go anywhere you want to from State Road 28 and it’s just more proof tonight that these kids get another opportunity to go anywhere they want from State Road 28.  He stated it meant something to him almost 20 years ago when he heard that, but it means just as much today.  He thanked Mr. Conley for the good work he’s doing.  He knows once this program gets to where he wants it to be, there will be a lot of families very grateful for the steps taken and what we are trying to achieve.  He stated he has heard about different courses through the years and he thinks we’ve achieved most of them, but it’s this kind of thing that he knows our good friend Reece Mann had in mind several years ago about trying to achieve.  He stated there were many talks late into the evening and one-on-one talks that he has had with fellow board members.  He stated these are the kind of things you want to get started and know will make a difference in the students’ life.  He understands the emotional part Mr. Conley’s saying because he knows it will make a difference in students’ lives and that’s why we do what we do and he commends everyone.  He stated it does take a village to think outside the box.  He stated we are bringing on a course that will cost us money, but it’s for the right reasons.  He stated that’s what they need and what they’ll get and he commends Mr. Conley for continuing to look outside the box and coming up with different things that will make a difference.  He thanked all new hires for picking DelCom and for all who are leaving for the time they spent here in our corporation.  He commented the football team probably lost to the eventual state champions and that’s nothing to be ashamed of, they are an excellent football team and our kids showed who they really could be this year and he’s proud of all of them.  He stated there is no question that DelCom is a special place.  He thanked everyone for their donations.
