At 6:30 p.m. Board President, John Adams called the meeting to order.

  1. Eric McBride, MTAC Muncie, requests permission to use the Delta High School cafeteria, hallway, and classrooms on June 22, 2023 to hold training, as presented.


  1. Jacob Brewer, YMCA of Muncie, requests permission to use the Delta High School tennis courts from July 24, 2023 through July 28, 2023 from     8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. to hold a tournament, as presented.


  1. Chyenne Wilder, Eaton Elementary, requests permission to use the Eaton Elementary gym and playground on July 26, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to    8:00 p.m. to hold a cookout, as presented.


The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

  1. A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Alice Gillis to approve the retirement of Scot Gard, Technology Director, effective  September 8, 2023.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. Information and Proposals


  1. Superintendent


  1. A motion was made by Alice Gillis and seconded by Adam Williams to uphold the Expulsion Examiner’s recommendation for Case #2022-2023-03, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Valerie Alexander to approve Food Service Student Employees, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. A motion was made by Adam Williams and seconded by Lance Engle to approve the DHS Girls’ Soccer Trip, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. A motion was made by Valerie Alexander and seconded by Alice Gillis to approve the DHS Boys’ Soccer Trip, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Valerie Alexander to approve the In-Person Plan Review, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. A motion was made by Alice Gillis and seconded by Valerie Alexander to approve the authority to pay claims and hire personnel, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. Superintendent Kile informed the Board about the following fundraisers:


  1. Angie Bragg, DHS Boys’ Basketball Boosters, requests permission to hold a golf outing on August 13, 2023, as presented.  Proceeds go towards Boosters.


  1. Assistant Superintendent

  1. A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Valerie Alexander to approve the request for Delta Middle School to surplus items, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.



  1. LETTERS/NOTES



  1. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS


Valerie Alexander – Ms. Alexander said that she hoped Mrs. Davis enjoyed her day off and that she was missed. She wished the sports teams well that are taking trips this summer and was excited to see the back-to-school plans in motion.


Alice Gillis – Ms. Gillis offered her best wishes and congratulations to Scott Gard.


Lance Engle – Mr. Engle also congratulated Mr. Scott Gard and indicated that he really appreciated the service he has given to DelCom. He said he has meant a lot to our community, students, and staff and wished him nothing but the best in his retirement. Mr. Engle also thanked the Albany Golf Club and the Vannatter family for hosting our golf teams this spring. He said they do a fantastic job out there and go above and beyond in taking care of our kids.


Adam Williams – Mr. Williams hoped everyone was enjoying their summer break. He thanked the custodial and maintenance crews for all of their hard work this time of the year along with everyone else who works hard on the various summer projects and planning that goes on behind the scenes. Mr. Williams also congratulated and expressed his thanks for Mr. Scott Gard saying that he has been a big value to the district.


John Adams – Mr. Adams concurred with his fellow board members. He went on to say that Mr. Gard has been a great asset for DelCom. He thanked Mr. Gard for being a part of DelCom for so many years. Mr. Adams also mentioned that there is a lot of work going on, acknowledging this is the time of year our custodial and maintenance staff work on the buildings and try to get things done when students are not here. He wanted them to know that their hard work was greatly appreciated. Mr. Adams also affirmed Mr. Engle’s sentiments in regard to the Albany Golf Club and the Vannatter family.



  1. FUTURE MEETINGS


  1. A regular meeting of the Board of School Trustees is scheduled for Monday, July 17, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at the Administration Building.



  1. ADJOURNMENT


A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Adam Williams and Board President, John Adams, adjourned the meeting at 7:02 p.m.
