  1. LETTERS/NOTES

  1. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS

Jacob Case – Mr. Case thanked the Eaton staff and Administration for allowing them to hold the meeting here tonight.  He stated it’s nice to get out and about and check out other facilities at DelCom. He thanked all staff, teachers, bus drivers, etc. for Saturday school.  He stated it went as smooth as it could go and his kids did okay and seemed to have fun.

Lance Engle – Mr. Engle thanked transportation for coming tonight and presenting their thoughts on kids safety, issues with buses, and making sure everyone’s safe.  He thanked Ms. Cross for coming and presenting the Bird Feeder, Eaton for having the meeting tonight, and everyone for making Saturday school enjoyable.  He stated there were a lot of positive comments and his kids enjoyed it and had a good day.

Trent Fox – Mr. Fox thanked Mr. Blakely and Eaton Elementary for having them.  He thanked everyone for their presentations and stated it’s a lengthy process to pass the testing to be a bus driver.  He’s heard from a few people if you missed parts of the test, you have to go back and re-take it and that’s never fun. He appreciates the efforts that were put in for Saturday school because it helps us get out a little sooner and that’s the reason it was doable for everyone.  He thinks getting out before June was a nice factor and incentive. Mr. Fox is looking forward to hearing about the sports teams and all events this spring. He stated the middle school has picked up a few sports they didn’t used to have and he’s looking forward to seeing how they turn out.  He hopes everyone enjoys spring.

Adam Williams – Mr. Williams apologized for his tardiness as he was at a middle school event in New Castle.  He stated flexibility and understanding was the name of the game for Saturday school and so many people cooperated and did what was right at every level, including staff, teachers, administration, and parents.  He greatly appreciates all parties involved in helping do the best of what we needed to do.

John Adams – Mr. Adams welcomed Ms. Stewart, new Delta High School Head Volleyball Coach.  He wishes her the best and knows everyone is excited to get her started with the kids.  He thanked her for coming on board and is sure she’ll do a great job. He thanked Ms. Cross for her presentation and is glad the Royerton project is working out for everyone.  He stated all kids should have enough time to eat and hopefully this will solve a lot of problems. He thanked Transportation for their presentation and for bringing problems to their attention.  He stated one thing in today’s society with liability and all that comes into play is to do all we can, but not setting ourselves up for failure. He thinks our parents would be more than willing to work with the constraints we have, but he agrees that communication needs to start now.  He wished them the best in their endeavors and is sure he’ll hear how it goes. He understands their concerns and thanked them for bringing it to their attention. Mr. Adams stated he’s heard a few things about Saturday school. He hasn’t heard of anyone being upset now that it’s happened.  He thinks parents enjoyed the day with their significant other and had some time to themselves. He’s been asked why we aren’t building Saturdays into the calendar and stated he would take that under advisement. He also heard a few comments that during winter there isn’t a lot going on and we have to heat the buildings, so we should throw in some extra Saturdays here and there.  He stated it was neat to hear different thoughts because he doesn’t think some people were all that up for it, but after it ended up being a decent day, it worked out well. He thanked all staff, teachers, bus drivers, custodians, etc. for helping make it happen so we could get out on time. He stated it’s definitely something you don’t want to do often, but he’s glad we have a team who can put things like this together and make it happen. He knows many are appreciative we’re going to be able to get out before June and keep graduation where it needs to be.  He thanked Mr. Blakely for allowing them to hold the meeting here this evening.
